Race For Justice 09

Here’s the illustration for this year’s Race For Justice. The RFJ is a 5k run put on by UMN Law School. I drew the winged loafer 7 years ago for their inaugural race. I’ve done 5 of the last seven tshirt designs, in addition to designing and building their website last year.

Bladerunner Storyboards

Check out these amazing storyboards from the Ridley Scott’s Sci-fi classic Blade Runner. The film was marked a dramatic change in our understanding of history, and film.

The finest illustrator alive today is…

andhemasandhemas2 I can’t seem to get too far from brazil. My absolute favorite illustrator Adhemas Batista just updated his website with some new work. Nobody paints on top of photography better than Adhemas. These are full on illustrations. He doesn’t skimp on the color. If you’re looking for subtle, look elsewhere because these illustrations are luxurious.

The illustrious ISO50

iso50The one and only Scott Hansen. He’s a rockstar in the illustrating world, and a bit of a rockstar in the rockstar world (He’s the recording artist Tycho). I like Scott Hansen because his rock posters don’t use any clip art and they don’t use any non-sequitur imagery. Don’t get me wrong, I love today’s trend in rock posters, but ISO 50 is a breath of fresh air in the over-saturated poster design scene.

I’m buying a man thong and moving to Rio.

Felipe GugaFelip2I love Brazil. The last two posts led me to Brazil Inspired, a cool website featuring brazilian designers. Who is the first poster on their newsfeed? Misprintedtype (from two posts ago). I follow the link. I find Felipe Guga. He doesn’t have a lot of info on his site. I don’t know anything about him. I do know - kid can draw. I mean - kid can seriously draw.

Misprinted Type

Misprinted TypeI can’t say enough good things about Mr. Brazil Eduardo Recife. His fonts have practically defined the last few years. You’ve seen Porcelain and Selfish all over, I think Old Navy used Rosewood. Download the entire set at his website. While you’re at it, download his Photoshop brushes as well. They put something in the water down there, cause the Brazilians got it going on. See it at MisprintedType.com

Surface View

surface view Surface View is a super cool little company out of england. They make bespoke wall murals. Pick your print, and send them the dimensions of your wall, and they send you your mural. There’s a bunch of retro-eque images. Think sunset wallpaper, but awesome. The website is also pretty cool, if a bit jarring. Nice use of liquid flash layout.
